Classic Super Absorbents

Some wounds drain copious amounts of fluid. These wounds require frequent dressing changes to help prevent maceration of the skin. Foams or hydrofibre dressings are generally expensive and do not always have the capacity for heavy wound drainage. Wounds heal better if skin breakdown from excess moisture can be prevented and if the wounds can be left undisturbed for longer periods of time.

The Classic Super Absorbent products are designed to absorb large amounts of wound drainage and help prevent skin breakdown. Some nurses find these products very effective and very inexpensive; in one community, nurses reduced their visits from twice per day to once every three days resulting in significant cost savings in both time and product to the health region. There are three different sizes.

Classic Supers

11 x 4 inches incontinence liner that is also being used as a wound dressing for heavily draining wounds. Holds 1-2 cups of fluid with the fluid being wicked to the center of the product leaving the liner feeling dry to the touch. Can absorb from both sides and be cut to fit (put a piece of fabric tape over the cut edge so the polymer beads don’t fall out). Thin and breathable for personal comfort

Classic Ultras & SteriSorb Ultras

A high capacity non-sterile 16 x 7 inch disposable absorbent pad that is ideal for wrapping venous legs or covering large heavily draining abdominal wounds. Specifically designed to meet product requirements of ETs, the Classic Ultra holds almost 1 litre of fluid with the fluid being wicked to the center of the product leaving the pad dry to the touch. Can absorb from both sides. Also available in sterile packaging – called Classic SteriSorb Ultra.

Classic Trauma-Sorb
	A high capacity non-sterile roll that is 72 x 24 inches. Can be cut to size. Has a moisture barrier on the back (plastic back).
